Hoya vangviengiensis is a cool-growing limestone-forest Hoya from Laos with glossy elliptic to oblong leaves and powerfully scented pale flowers that can persist for more than a week. It often spends a long time producing peduncles before it finally blooms, which is why it appeals most to patient collectors who enjoy precise, habitat-led care.
Indoors it does best with bright indirect light, cool nights around 14–18 °C, days around 18–22 °C, and high humidity around 70–85% when buds are forming. The substrate should be very airy, slightly lean, and allowed to dry somewhat between waterings rather than staying wet.
Once established, persistent peduncles should never be removed because they rebloom. Hoya vangviengiensis is a more exacting species, but its fragrant umbels make the long wait worthwhile for dedicated Hoya growers.
