Iresine diffusa f. herbstii 'Rich Goldstar' is a fast-growing foliage plant with small heart-shaped leaves in deep crimson to magenta, sharply traced with bright yellow-gold veins. Indoors it usually stays around 40–50 cm tall when pinched and pruned, forming a dense, bushy clump rather than a loose, leggy shrub.
Bright indirect light keeps the colour strong, while too little light quickly leads to stretched stems and weaker contrast. Water once the top layer has dried slightly, use a loose mix with good drainage, and keep temperatures stable in the warm range the species prefers.
It is considered non-toxic, which makes it easier to use in mixed households, and its quick response to trimming is one of its best qualities: regular pinching encourages branching and keeps the plant full, compact, and vivid rather than sparse.
