Kleinia cephalophora is a compact succulent from Namibia and South Africa that carries smooth, blue-grey leaves on upright stems, creating a clean vertical silhouette without becoming bulky. In cultivation it commonly reaches about 40 cm and can produce nodding yellow flower heads on mature plants, though the foliage and form are its main strengths in containers. Strong light is essential if you want to keep the growth dense and avoid weak, stretched stems.
Use a sharply draining succulent mix, let the soil dry fully between waterings, and keep the plant warm and dry through cooler periods. Stem cuttings root readily once calloused, making it easy to propagate.
It is not generally classed as highly toxic, but the sap can irritate sensitive skin, so handling with care still makes sense.
