Licuala grandis is a slow, solitary fan palm with nearly circular, pleated leaves that unfold like green discs, giving it a far more sculptural look than most feathered indoor palms. It grows from a single trunk and stays comparatively compact for many years, though the leaves themselves can become broad enough to command real space and light.
Bright filtered light, steady moisture, and humidity above about 50% help keep the leaf tips from browning, while direct sun and cold drafts quickly mark the delicate fronds. A breathable, well-draining mix in a deep container suits the fibrous root system, and temperatures below about 12 °C should be avoided. This species is not generally classed as toxic, but the pleated leaves bruise and crease easily, so careful handling matters.
