Neoraimondia herzogiana is a true collector columnar cactus, grown for long spines, thick ribbed stems, and the sense that even a young plant is headed toward genuine monument scale. In habitat it becomes a tall, candelabra-like desert tree, but even in cultivation it quickly reads more serious than smaller, friendlier cacti. The spines are a big part of the appeal here: longer, more dramatic, and more obviously defensive than on many columnars, giving each stem a hard desert intensity.
Full sun, a fast mineral mix, and real drought cycles are what keep it dense and healthy, while cold dampness is exactly what it dislikes. Given time and space, it can also reward with flowers and fruit, but this is mainly a species for structural impact. For growers interested in South American desert giants, Neoraimondia herzogiana has real authority.
