Parodia leninghausii develops into a golden column wrapped in dense yellow spines that catch light from every angle, and older plants often branch from the base to form clustered groups. While young specimens are usually solitary and simple, maturity brings more height, side shoots, and eventually silky yellow flowers from the crown.
It comes from rocky highland habitats in southern Brazil, which explains why it wants strong light, a free-draining mineral mix, and clear wet-dry cycles rather than constant moisture. Water deeply in active growth, then let the substrate dry fully before repeating, and keep it nearly dry in winter. Flowering takes patience, but the plant already works as an ornamental cactus because the dense golden spines provide more colour than most species at rest.
