Peperomia argyreia, often called watermelon peperomia, is instantly recognisable by its round leaves striped in silver and green, all held on vivid red petioles that lift the foliage into a neat upright rosette. Although compact, usually around 20–30 cm tall, it carries strong visual weight because each leaf is broad, slightly cupped, and patterned like the rind of a small fruit.
Bright, indirect light keeps the stripes crisp without scorching the leaf surface, while a light, airy substrate and moderate watering protect the roots from rot. Let the top portion of the mix dry before watering again and keep the plant warm and out of cold drafts. It is considered non-toxic and is easy to place in pet-friendly homes. The main appeal is the bold leaf pattern and tidy shape rather than flowering.
