Pfeiffera boliviana is a spineless forest cactus with long, soft, slightly flattened stems that trail in green ribbons and can eventually reach close to 90 cm in length. It differs from desert cacti in both texture and care, preferring bright filtered light, moderate humidity, and an airy epiphytic substrate rather than full sun and long drought. Small white to pale pink tubular flowers may appear along the stems in season, but the main attraction is the easy, cascading habit that suits hanging baskets and high shelves.
Let the upper part of the substrate dry before watering again, keep temperatures mild and warm, and provide good airflow to prevent stagnant moisture around the roots.
Because it has no spines and is considered non-toxic, it is especially useful in pet-friendly homes that want a jungle-cactus look without sharp defenses.
