Philodendron alatiundulatum is a rare hemiepiphytic climber from Costa Rica and Panama, recognized as much for its petioles as for its leaves. The petioles are purplish and edged with undulating wings, while the blades themselves are broad, dark green, and ovate-cordate with a slightly wavy profile and impressed venation.
Given a moss pole or trellis, it climbs steadily and produces larger, more structural foliage than it will as a loose pot plant. Bright, indirect light, watering after the top 2–3 cm of substrate has dried, and an airy mix with bark, coir, and perlite keep the roots healthier than heavy soil. It prefers 18–25 °C and humidity around or above 60%.
Like most philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate and should be kept away from animals and children that might chew it.
