Philodendron corsinianum is a historic hybrid believed to have been created in Florence in the 1880s and often described as one of the earliest man-made philodendron hybrids in cultivation. The plant carries wide heart-shaped leaves with softly undulating margins and a luminous green tone, giving it a broad, classic tropical look rather than a narrow collector niche. It can climb if given support but also responds well to pruning that keeps it bushier and more contained.
Filtered light, moisture-retentive but free-draining substrate, and watering once the top layer has dried help it stay vigorous without encouraging rot. It grows best around 18–27 °C with moderate to high humidity.
Like other philodendrons it is toxic if ingested, but otherwise it is a practical way to grow a piece of aroid history in an ordinary indoor setup.
