Philodendron luxurians is a compact velvet philodendron from Colombia and Ecuador with thick emerald leaves, bright silver-white primary veins, and a plush surface that keeps its quality even at a manageable size. Juvenile plants creep first, but they become more architectural when semi-climbing on a fine-textured support, which is where the species starts to live up to its name. Compared with giant velvets, it fits smaller spaces more easily while still giving a high-end leaf finish.
Bright, filtered light, evenly moist substrate with slight drying at the top, and an airy mix with bark, sphagnum, perlite, and charcoal suit it well. It prefers 20–28 °C and humidity above about 70%.
Like other philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate and should be kept away from pets and children that might chew it.
