Tradescantia zebrina 'Burgundy', also sold as 'Purple Joy', deepens the classic zebrina look with richer wine-purple foliage and bright metallic striping, so the plant adds immediate contrast to bright rooms and hanging displays. The stems grow fast, root wherever they touch suitable substrate, and respond well to pinching, which makes it easy to build a dense curtain of colour in a short time.
Bright indirect light or soft direct sun keeps the burgundy tones strongest, while a free-draining mix and slight drying between waterings help prevent the yellowing and stem rot that come from soggy pots. It is a forgiving, fast-moving trailer, but the sap can irritate skin and should be kept away from pets and children that chew plants. Tip pinching keeps it fuller.
